I'm a senior researcher at Netflix and co-founder of Flux.
I'm a senior quantitative researcher on the Consumer Insights team at Netflix. I'm also a co-founder of Flux. I earned a PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, doing research on algorithmic transparency in AI systems, privacy and security, accessibility, and user trust in emerging technologies. I was advised by Dr. Yang Wang.
I enjoy building things. I've built for the web, mobile, and VR. In the past, I did research at Google, Facebook, Airbnb, and Figure Eight (f.k.a. CrowdFlower). I also used to compete in web development competitions. I like running, traveling, sci-fi movies and books, and (almost) all kinds of games.
My published works are novel systems, frameworks, and models around topics of user privacy, data ethics & transparency of AI systems, user trust, and accessibility. My work has been published at CHI, WWW, UbiComp, IEEE S&P, USENIX Security, SOUPS, and PETS.
Patents and patent applications have been created for some of the things I built in graduate school and research internships:
